The First Churches Meeting House at 129 Main Street is a major community center in downtown Northampton, serving the city and western Massachusetts. Over 1,200 people per week represent thirty five community groups and include: A.A., Alalon, Hampshire Choral Society, Scottish Country Dancing, workshops on racism, men overcoming violence, family planning, youth outreach, drug and alcohol prevention, domestic violence, prison reform, universal health care, community policy, and meetings of the Downtown Business Council.
Available spaces include: the Church Parlor; Lyman Hall (a large room serving as a banquet hall and and can host several hundred people for concerts, dances, etc.); smaller function rooms, on the lower level, accommodate groups such as A.A. and Alanon.
Our magnificently restored sanctuary,which has a capacity of over 900, is also available for rental for concerts, weddings, and the like. Contact us for technical specifications.
The Church can’t always promise space will be available. Church space is available to appropriate uses. All groups and events must be approved by members of a Church committee. A fee is requested for use (see fee schedule); please print out the Request for Room Use form and mail, fax, or email it to the church office well in advance and our room use coodinator will be in touch with you.

Lyman Hall – Wooden floors and cathedral ceiling. Holds up to 125 people using chairs or 96 people using chairs and tables (use of tables extra, sexton). Can be used for meetings, receptions, banquets, etc… Kitchen rental is also available.
Parlor – High ceiling, fireplace, wooden floor, parlor furniture. Living room set up typically to seat less than 15 but can hold up to 35 people.
Room 11 – Located on 3rd floor. Wall-to-wall carpeting, not wheelchair accessible. The room can hold approximately 15 people.
Sanctuary – This is our 2 million dollar renovation that displays the fine craftsmanship of yesteryear. Solid cherry wood, cathedral ceilings, solid marble clock and beautiful stained glass windows one Tiffany, done by himself. The Sanctuary can be used for weddings, meetings, concerts, plays, etc… and can accommodate up to 796 people in the heart of downtown Northampton.
Rainbow Room – This space is used to accommodate children if childcare is needed while renting another space. You will have to supply the childcare services. The artist Jane Dyer created the wall to wall images and the room is safely equipped with play things for the children. The room can hold up to 30 children.
Rec Room – This is a large space located in our basement floor. It has wooden walls and painted floors. This room can be used for large gatherings, it can hold up to 80 people.
Room 2 – Can be used for small office space. 1-2 desks, linoleum floors, and painted walls. Located on the bottom floor.
Room 3 – Can be used for office space or for meetings. This room can hold up to four desks and is located on the bottom floor. It can accommodate up to 30 people.
Room 6 – Small office space located on the bottom floor. Linoleum floors and painted walls. If you need two rooms, Room 6 can be combined with Room 7 with a connecting door.
Room 7 – Small office space that can hold up to two desks. Linoleum floors with painted walls. Located on the bottom floor of the church.
Kitchen – Large, fully functioning kitchen to handle all of your cooking needs.
All rooms are wheelchair accessible except for Room 11.
